Celebration at Lao Advancement Organization of America

We are pleased to announce that we have awarded $2,018,680 in Older Americans Act Title III funding to 30 Twin Cities community-based organizations to provide services to older adults in 2022.

In July, Trellis opened a competitive bid for applications for Older Americans Act Title III-B supportive services (not including Legal Services or Assisted Transportation) and Title III-D evidence-based health promotion and disease prevention classes. Trellis expanded outreach, increased technical support and simplified the application process to make this funding opportunity accessible to more organizations, particularly those that serve people facing social and health inequities.

These changes resulted in a historic response. Trellis received 49 applications, requesting $5,893,828 million in funding. With just over $2 million available, Trellis was forced to make difficult funding decisions. The 30 providers awarded funds will offer a range of services that are critical to the health and well-being of older adults, including addressing social isolation through new services such as visiting, technology and nutrition education.

Funding under the Older Americans Act program is one of many ways in which Trellis engages with community organizations. Senior LinkAge Line® staff at Trellis partner with community organizations to conduct informational presentations for older adults and caregivers, answering questions about Medicare and making connections to services and resources. ElderCare Development Partnership (EDP) staff provide consultation on funding opportunities, support program development and connect aging services providers to expand the network of supportive services available to older adults.
