This is an important time of year for people on Medicare. The annual Medicare Open Enrollment Period runs every year from October 15 through December 7. During this time, people on Medicare can make changes to their Medicare health or prescription drug plan for the coming year.

Too many people on Medicare ignore this time-limited opportunity to review their Medicare plan options and make changes for the next year. People shop around for gas, food, and household goods, but they don’t consider the fact that health insurance is one of their most costly expenses. By doing some simple research, they might be able to save money and improve their benefits.

And if you need it, help is just a phone call away. The Senior LinkAge Line has trained staff and volunteers available to show people how to research their options and find a plan that is cost effective and best meets their needs.

This statewide service of the Minnesota Board on Aging is a partnership with Minnesota’s area agencies on aging. As Minnesota’s federally designated State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP), people receive free and non-biased Medicare counseling.

Don’t wait until it’s too late: Call the Senior LinkAge Line at 800-333-2433 Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
