Success looks different for each caller to the Senior LinkAge Line®. Some people need resources to navigate caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease, some need help finding affordable housing, some call for tips on physical safety and falls prevention. The volunteers at Senior LinkAge Line delight in helping each caller find exactly what they need.

Chris, a volunteer at Senior LinkAge Line, took a routine call from a couple asking about Medicare plans. They were two retirees, married, and each on a different plan. They wondered, was it possible to get both on the same plan?

Chris, volunteer with Senior LinkAge Line

Drawing on her six years of experience advocating for Minnesotans on a wide range of Medicare issues, Chris started by asking questions and listening to understand what they really wanted. Her expertise and persistence led her to suggest several options for the couple. They landed on a solution that not only allowed the couple to have the same Medicare plan but also saved them over $1,400 a year.

Chris was ecstatic knowing this couple would suddenly have an extra $100 a month to spend. They had mentioned their grandsons several times, and Chris was thrilled to learn this money meant they could plan an extra trip each year to see their grandkids — to the couple, that time with their family was priceless, and all it took was one free call.
