Volunteer Ambassadors share information about a variety of free services offered by the Senior LinkAge Line (SLL) and Trellis. They volunteer on their own schedule, through everyday conversations and materials distribution. They help form a bridge between their own community and Trellis, providing insight about how to best connect with their communities.

- Form a bridge between your community and Trellis, by sharing our information and materials.
- Raise awareness of Trellis and SLL services within your community in conjunction with a team of other volunteers.

- Provide feedback on the needs of your community and help brainstorm ways to better meet those needs.
- Participate in regular Volunteer Ambassador conversations (via Zoom or in-person).
Volunteer Requirements
- Desire to get involved in your community.
- Eagerness to learn about Trellis and SLL services.
- Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.
- Effective communication skills and being comfortable talking to people.
- Basic digital communication skills (email, telephone, Zoom). Volunteer Ambassador opportunities are communicated via a weekly emailed volunteer newsletter and through email; email communication with Volunteer & Outreach staff is crucial.
- Sensitivity to the needs of older adults, persons with disabilities, and diverse populations.
Volunteer Training
- Onboard and train with Volunteer Team staff.
- Watch orientation videos online, attend free educational presentations (online or in-person options), and read materials.
- Participate in regularly scheduled Volunteer Ambassador conversations, where program announcements, continuing training, ambassador discussion, and material pick-ups take place.
- We recommend all new volunteers attend the following free presentations: How the Senior LinkAge Line Can Help You and Fraud & Scams Targeting Older Adults.
Time Investment
Volunteer Ambassadors decide their own hours, so monthly hours will vary. The first month of being an ambassador will have a greater time commitment, as completion of an online orientation and several training videos are required for this role. To better prepare you for understanding and promoting our services, we strongly suggest attending our free educational presentations. Volunteers are responsible for logging their volunteer, educational, and training time in our online portal.
