Metropolitan Area Agency on Aging, Inc., doing business as “Trellis”, operates trellisconnects.org. It is Trellis’ policy to respect your privacy regarding any information we may collect while operating our website.
Website visitors
Trellis collects non-personally identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site and the date and time of each visitor request. Trellis’ purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how Trellis’ visitors use our website. From time to time, we may release non-personally identifying information in the aggregate, e.g., by publishing a report on trends in the usage of our website.
Trellis also collects potentially personally identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses for logged-in users and for users leaving comments. Trellis only discloses logged-in user and commenter IP addresses under the same circumstances that we use and discloses personally identifying information as described below, except that blog commenter IP addresses are visible and disclosed to the administrators of the blog where the comment was left.
Email communications
Individuals may choose to opt-in to receiving email communications from Trellis by submitting their contact information via a form on this website, through event registration or by direct request. You may remove yourself from the email list at any time by clicking “unsubscribe” on any email sent or by contacting us at info@trellisconnects.org or 651-641-8612 and requesting that your name be removed.
Gathering of personally identifying information
Certain visitors to Trellis’ website choose to interact with Trellis in ways that require us to gather personally identifying information. The amount and type of information that Trellis gathers depend on the nature of the interaction. Those who engage in transactions with Trellis are asked to provide additional information, including as necessary the personal and financial information required to process those transactions. In each case, Trellis collects such information only insofar as is necessary or appropriate to fulfill the purpose of the visitor’s interaction with Trellis. Trellis does not disclose personally identifying information other than as described below. And visitors can always refuse to supply personally identifying information, with the caveat that it may prevent them from engaging in certain website-related activities.
Aggregated statistics
Trellis may collect statistics about the behavior of visitors to our website. For instance, Trellis may monitor the most popular posts on trellisconnects.org and may display this information publicly or provide it to others. However, Trellis does not disclose personally identifying information other than as described below.
Protection of certain personally identifying Information
Trellis discloses potentially personally identifying and personally identifying information only to employees, contractors and affiliated organizations that (i) need to know that information in order to process it on Trellis’ behalf or to provide services available at Trellis’ website, and (ii) that have agreed not to disclose it to others. Trellis’ will not rent or sell potentially personally identifying and personally identifying information to anyone. Other than to our employees, contractors and affiliated organizations, as described above, Trellis discloses potentially personally identifying and personally identifying information only in response to a subpoena, court order or other governmental requests, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the property or rights of Trellis, third parties or the public at large. Trellis takes all measures reasonably necessary to protect against the unauthorized access, use, alteration or destruction of potentially personally identifying and personally identifying information.
Donor privacy
When an individual chooses to make a donation to Trellis, Trellis collects name, address, email address, telephone number (optional) and credit card payment information. Trellis collects this information using online donation forms or through direct contact with a donor. Trellis uses a third-party payment gateway, Acceptiva, to process credit card payments using industry-standard security. Trellis does not have access to or store credit card information.
Trellis tracks donor information in order to report to our board, thank the donor, recognize supporters in our annual report and understand how to better attract additional donors. Only employees and contractors who need to know in order to process donations on Trellis’ behalf have access to personally identified information. Donors may elect to remain anonymous and if they do so will not be recognized in our annual report or elsewhere.
Trellis will not sell, share or trade our donors’ names or personal information with any other entity. In addition, we will not send mailings to our donors on behalf of other organizations.
This policy applies to all information received by Trellis, both online and offline, on any platform, as well as any electronic, written, or oral communications.
Any person can be removed from our lists used for online or offline fundraising appeals by sending a request by email to info@trellisconnects.org; by letter to Trellis, 1265 Grey Fox Road, Suite 2, Arden Hills, MN 55112; or by calling us at 651-641-8612. Upon receipt, we will immediately remove your name and contact information from future appeals. Donors may also contact info@trellisconnects.org in order to change incorrect information.
Cookies
A cookie is a string of information that a website stores on a visitor’s computer, and that the visitor’s browser provides to the website each time the visitor returns. Trellis uses cookies to help us identify and track visitors, their usage of the Trellis website and their website access preferences. Trellis visitors who do not wish to have cookies placed on their computers should set their browsers to refuse cookies before using Trellis’ website, with the drawback that certain features of Trellis’ website may not function properly without the aid of cookies.
