We are proud to share our new name and new look. Metropolitan Area Agency on Aging is now Trellis.
Our organization has grown beyond our original mission as the area agency on aging for the metro area. We continue to be a regional leader in aging but, today, we are so much more. We provide services, information and innovations that connect and improve the lives of people across Minnesota and in ten other states.
“I am proud of the work that we have done as Metropolitan Area Agency on Aging over the past 26 years,” said Dawn Simonson, president and CEO of Trellis. “We have provided trusted and responsive support for individuals and organizations in our community and have developed strong, resilient networks. Trellis—with the imagery of life, growth and a structure for support—will take our work to new heights, helping people optimize well-being as they age. I am particularly encouraged by the progress we are making in developing partnerships with healthcare organizations to provide whole-person care to older adults in our communities.”
Listen to Dawn Simonson, President and CEO of Trellis,
talks about the reason for the change.
As Trellis, we will continue to:
- Connect people to services and resources that help them age well through the Senior LinkAge Line® in partnership with the Minnesota Board on Aging.
- Administer federal Older Americans Act funding for services that help older adults and caregivers live safely and independently in their community.
- Be a strong advocate for system changes so that older adults and caregivers can thrive in their communities.
- Focus energy on people who face disparities and are in greatest need.
- Bring innovations to the field of aging and generate new sources of revenue to address the growing opportunities and needs of an aging population.
In the future, watch for Trellis to be a leader in bridging the gap between healthcare and social care—an approach that will have an expanding impact on the health, security and well-being of older adults and many others.
“We are in an extraordinary and challenging time, and aging is a defining issue,” according to Kris Orluck, Chair of our board. “Trellis has put the infrastructure in place to catapult us into the next generation of aging. I am thrilled to be a part of this important transformation.”
