What caregivers should know about raising a child with FASD

Raising children comes with joy, and challenges. If you suspect your child may have fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD) or has a known diagnosis of FASD, this presentation is for you. It will help you better understand how prenatal alcohol exposure impacts the developing brain. You will also learn common characteristics of the disorder while exploring strategies, tools and tips to help support children with FASD.
Presenter: Teresa Kothbauer is a member of the Proof Alliance Speaker’s Bureau. She has been involved with
since her son was diagnosed with an FASD at the Proof Alliance Diagnostic Clinic in 2014. Since then, Theresa has developed an extensive understanding of FASD through attending conferences, intensive training and parenting a child with FASD. Teresa has an undergraduate degree in communications and a master’s degree in training and development. She lives in the east metro with her husband, 20-year-old daughter, 15-year-old son, and three cats.
