SUMMARY:The Gathering: Out-of-Home Group Respite
DESCRIPTION:The Gathering is a daytime\, out-of-home group respite program for caregivers and care receivers. The Gathering is a safe\, enjoyable place for seniors living with long-term illness to socialize and receive care. The program provides family caregivers the opportunity to receive several hours of respite. Dedicated and trained volunteers\, supervised by a social worker or nurse\, operate the program. Participants can enjoy fellowship\, lunch\, and activities while caregivers can enjoy support group meetings\, education\, and time away from caregiving. This is an opportunity offered in collaboration with Coon Rapids United Methodist Church on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of every month. \n*An assessment must be completed prior to attending group respite. The class is designed to provide you with a wealth of self-care tools that will help you take care of yourself while taking care of others. You will learn to reduce stress\, improve your self-confidence\, bring more balance to your life\, better communicate your feelings\, and increase your ability to make tough decisions. The class is open to people from the Jewish and broader community.
